Mini quilt swap #2

Well for our second quilt swap I was paired up with the other co-leader of the group....no pressure right!!!  Yikes!!  She is one of my dearest friends too.  This round was called "Anything Goes".  Well I look through all of her favorites and came up with  the pattern from Patchworkpottery and made the "Crane Star" pattern.  http://patchworkpottery.blogspot.com/2012/03/crane-star-pattern.html
I also made her a paper pieced Hummer Named Zippy.  This was so much fun to make!  All the embroidery was sewn onto this quilt while we were up in the mountains...just lovely!!
This is the quilt Pattiann made for me....it is titled "Garden Memories" in honor of our last 2 Irish Setters....Kelsey and Darby.  We had to put Kelsey down in April of 2013 and Darby down this past April.  My poor husband when I opened this package....I was sobbing at the beauty and love that was all wrapped up in this beauty!  Isn't it something else?  I love it so much!!!

Mini Quilt Swap #1

I was invited to join a group of mostly ladies to be in a mini quilt swap.  My partner ended being one of the two leaders.  Yooza!!!  She quickly became a dear friend of mine and I truly cherish her friendship!!!  Here is what she made for me....I love Charley Harper...so this just made me cry when I opened it!!!

Here is what I made for her....she loves Kaffe Fassett just like me and we were to make a traditional block...So I made a wonky log cabin.  So much fun and squealing!!!  (O:

Family

Well it's almost the end of October and in my last post I was supposed to complete some blocks for my City Sampler quilt....well that didn't happen.  I have had a lot of things happening in my family and life just got in the way.  We all said goodbye to my Father in September.  It was bittersweet.  He was almost 95 and had lived an amzing life.  He shared so much on his last day about his service in the Army.  It was beautiful. He will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery on January 30th at 11:00am.
My sister Barbara and her husband have had so much on their plate being the Power of Attorney....You think Trusts make things easier and they do but there is really so much more to do....especially for our mother and making sure everything is set up properly for her.  My sister is amazing!!!  I love her to pieces!!!
