ALYoF for December....one more time

Playing with the new layout and new fabrics.  Now below I am taking it all apart....I know...I'm nuts!!
Now all back together again....a bigger version with more fabrics....Yippee!!  I got it done before the end of the year!!!  The grey gingham really plays nicely with the bolder fabrics....one of those lines I bought quite a while ago and then didn't know what to do with them.  I am happy now!!!

My Fabric Diet for 2014

Favorite Fabric Swap
My main reason for signing up for this....I have to stop spending on fabric and start saving for other necessities in our home....I have a lot that I would like to do and really have plenty of fabric to keep me very busy for at least 6 months so that I can devote moneys to other adventures!!!
Here are the rules/goals…
GOALS:
- To use the Stash I already have!
- Finish UFOs without distraction by shifting to other new beautiful fabric.....but I will be working on more then one thing at a time from my stash.
- Stop the insanity of constantly buying the latest and greatest fabric.
- Save the $$$$ I spend on stashing.
- Destash the fabrics that I realize I am never going to use....already done this!!!
FABRIC FAST RULES:
1) No fabric purchases for 6 months beginning January 1, 2014....except for what might be needed to complete already started projects...i.e. My City Sampler will need additional fabrics.
2) At 6 months reevaluate status and decide whether to keep going for full year.  Evaluation July 1, 2014.
3) Create a UFO list and complete them.....this is where I am changing things up a bit....I am also apart of "A Lovely year of Finishes 2014" and will be posting my monthly goals with them....don't know if I will make a 6 month UFO list....I need some freedom of choice.
4) Exceptions
  • Backing: purchasing a backing to finish a quilt top is permissible.  However, attempting to use fabric in your possession for a backing is preferable.
  • Books and Magazine purchases are allowed as they are not fabric.  Notions acceptable too.
  • Swap Mama Fabric: if hosting a swap you are permitted to by fabric to execute swap duties, but you may not join a swap simply for the sake of being able to buy fabric!
  • Quilts for Publication: if you are making a quilt for a publication and need certain fabric to execute it correctly then that is a major exception – who can blame you?

ALYoF for December

I saw on Pintrest that someone had made a really cool simple quilt with these fabric from a charm pack.  I want to make the blocks larger....of course...I always want to change things.  My goal for December is to get the quilt top together....not quilted too....I won't have time for that.  There is a combo of fabrics here...Arcadia by Sanae for Moda, Riley Blake Gingham, and some Studio E fabrics...well even some Momo from Moda!  Wish me luck that I get it done!!  I have only missed my October goal....so I sure hope I get this one done!!

Oopps....I forgot to post about Coast to Coast Quilters!!!

For September We made a special block that Nancy created on her computer.  This quilt is being made with her husband Crown Royal bags. The second block we made for her and her husband is for the back of the quilt.  We could use any pattern we wanted,  We just needed to use a bag she sent us and our own black and white fabrics.  I chose Fresh Lemons Star Solstice block called Another Star....http://www.freshlemonsquilts.com/?p=1608.
For the month of August Pattiann asked us to make her "A Scrappy Log Cabin Block" out of "Winter's Lane " fabric by Moda.  Her pattern was from Elizabeth Hartman's blog...http://www.ohfransson.com/oh_fransson/2009/06/how-to-make-scrappy-hedgerow-blocks.html

I loved making all of these blocks.  October is bringing us Bento Boxes for Moni.

What sweet fabric and pattern!!!

I am making baby boy quilt number 2 for my college girlfriends second grandchild....baby boy # 2!!!  I made her sisters baby boy quilt from this same fabric.  I love this "Jungle Bungle" by Moda and this pattern is way to much fun....I added one more row at the bottom and made my blocks smaller then the instructions tell you to.  I wouldn't have had enough fabric to pull off the larger blocks.. I really like how it turned out.Oh yes the pattern is from "Modern Quilting from the Blogging Universe.".

My sister's quilt

Well I finally got this off to my sister and she should be getting in the mail today....Yippee!!

I used black seed beads for my quilting.....when I quilted it on the machine it made me dizzy to look at it....so the beads were a great solution....It is a great feeling to have it all done and in her hands!!!!

Happy Dance!!!

What a lovely way to start August

Well here is my p.s. i quilt "Pinwheel Sampler" all hand quilted back from my sister Barbara.  I am so in love with this beauty.  When I pulled it out of the dryer the other night I was giddy with delight!  My 33 year old son called it an heirloom!!!!  Which tickled me so much.  I used Bari J's fabrics "Full Bloom".....which I just love....all of those flowers....and birdies too!!!  I started making this quilt top back in 2010.....it is so great to see it all done!!  I just love it!!!
